Selecting Store and Market

Change the device's default market and store, or narrow what you see across the app using the runtime Market & Store filter.

The In-Store App has two related concepts for "which market and which store am I working in":

What it isWhere you change it
Device defaultsThe market, store, and order type the device starts with after sign-in. Persisted on the device.Settings → Device, or by re-running the Initial Device Setup wizard.
Active filterA runtime filter that narrows lists (orders, carts, products, pick lists, purchase orders, deliveries, reports) to one or more markets and/or stores. Initialised from the device defaults each time, but changeable independently. The collapsible Market & Store card at the top of the affected list pages.

This page covers both. For the very first set-up of a device, see Initial Device Setup.

Prerequisites

  • You are signed in to the app — see Logging in.
  • Your account has access to more than one market or store. On single-market, single-store accounts the filter is effectively fixed and the device defaults are set during initial setup.

Changing the device's default market or store

The device defaults live in Settings → Device, which shows three tiles: Market, Store, and Order Type. Each tile shows the current value or Not set.

Change the default market

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Scroll to the Device section.
  3. Tap the Market tile.
  4. In the Market dialog, use the Search field to filter, or scroll to find the market.
  5. Tap the market to select it. To clear the default, tap None at the top of the list.
  6. The dialog closes and the app shows Default market updated at the bottom.

Changing the market may also clear the default store if the existing store is not available in the new market. The next time you open the Store tile, you'll see Not set until you pick a new store.

Change the default store

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Scroll to the Device section.
  3. Tap the Store tile.
  4. In the Store dialog, search or scroll, then tap a store. To clear the default, tap None.
  5. The dialog closes and the app shows Default store updated at the bottom.

Side-effects of changing a default

Whenever you change the default market or default store from Settings, the active Market & Store filter is reset to the new defaults at the same time. Lists across the app re-load to reflect the new scope.

Changing the default store from Settings does not trigger device re-registration. To re-register the device for the new store (for example because the new store has a different POS register configuration), use the Initial Device Setup wizard from Settings → Initial Setup instead.

Filtering visible data at runtime

Many list pages show a collapsible Market & Store card at the top of the screen. Tap it to expand and choose which markets and stores the page should include. Pages that use this filter:

  • Orders
  • Carts
  • Products
  • Pick Lists (Orders to Pick)
  • Purchase Orders, Orders to Purchase, Deliveries
  • Quick Access tiles
  • Reports
  • Cloud transactions / inventory badges and stock-aware widgets

What the header shows

Collapsed, the card shows a store icon, the heading Market & Store, and a summary badge on the right:

BadgeMeaning
AllNo filter applied — every market and every store the account has access to
N market, N storeNumber of markets and/or stores currently selected

Apply a filter

  1. Tap the Market & Store card to expand it.
  2. Tap the Market dropdown and select one or more markets. The dropdown supports multi-select.
  3. Tap the Store dropdown and select one or more stores.
  4. The list under the card refreshes immediately. Collapse the card by tapping the header again — the summary badge updates to reflect your selection.

How markets and stores interact

The store dropdown is filtered to stores that are available in the selected markets. If you change the market selection and a previously selected store is no longer valid, that store is automatically removed from the selection — you don't need to deselect it manually.

If no markets are selected, every store the account has access to is offered.

Reset to device defaults

When the card is expanded, a Reset link appears in the top-right of the header. Tap it to discard the current selection and restore the markets and stores set as the device defaults in Settings.

The runtime filter is also synced to your server-side session, so reports and lists that fetch from the server respect the same scope without you needing to reapply it on each page.

Variations

Multiple markets in the same selection

Select more than one market by tapping each in the Market dropdown. The store dropdown then shows every store available in any of the selected markets — not only stores that exist in all of them.

Clearing the active filter

To go back to seeing everything you have access to, expand the Market & Store card and remove every selected market and store from both dropdowns. The badge will switch to All.

Changing market or store from the wizard

To change all three defaults (market, store, order type) at once — for example when redeploying a tablet to a different store — use the Initial Device Setup wizard from Settings → Initial Setup. Re-running the wizard pre-fills the existing defaults so you only need to change what differs, and it also clears the device registration so the device re-registers for the new store on its next sync.
